Construction Damage
Ideally, a Certified Arborist would be called to consult about a tree during the planning stage of construction and preservation measures would be implemented prior to construction to reduce the risk of damage. However, professional help isn’t usually sought until a tree visibly begins to decline.
Root disturbance during construction can cause unseen damage. Compaction of soil around a tree occurs by operating heavy equipment above a trees root system, or by adding soil above a trees root system which then restricts the amount of oxygen in the soil that allow trees to continue to grow vigorously. Construction can also lead to reduced amounts of water a tree can absorb.
At HTS Tree Care, our Certified Arborists should be consulted to properly prune any broken or damaged branches and can assist in repairing damage to trees during construction.
